Taka Sudo

Like a firework burst that produces a spontaneous vibrant rhythmic pattern and colour palette, Taka’s work possesses a similar kaleidoscopic effect. Within these swirls and shots of energy are an effervescent homage to his upbringing in Japan, as well as his affinity for contemporary Western street culture – specifically graffiti and pervasiveness of the media in North America. An allegory for the busy and rushed contemporary lives that we lead, Taka’s neon cyclone also represents a motivation to find neutrality – calm in the eye of the storm. The chaotic and abstract elements reflect our daily life, which is so often a paradox of beautiful disorder. A state of being that resonates with us all, Taka hopes that the viewer can find their own neutral spot within whatever pandemonium is dominating their lives in that moment.
